haiti-disasterHaiti – January 18, 2010. International Relief Services was started in 1994 by Johnny Garrison a former missionary and relief worker of 20 years.  He and his family served in these capacities in a variety of African countries.  Upon his return to the United States, he started International Relief Services to assist missionaries and aid workers with necessary materials and supplies to accomplish their tasks.

Since its inception, International Relief has sent shipments of medical supplies, educational materials, food and other essentials to such places as Palawan Island, Philippines; Mexico City, Mexico; Lagos, Nigeria; Beua, Cameroon, and others.  With the supplies in these shipments two clinics have been equipped with furnishings and medical supplies providing assistance to entire villages that lacked proper medical facilities.

A Letter to all of our Friends:

I know you have been listening to the news about the disaster in Haiti. It is said to be the poorest nation in the western hemisphere!

We have many Oneness believers there. As of today we do not know about their condition, alive or dead. We do know that their churches and homes are damaged or destroyed.

International Relief Services, Inc is presently involved in helping our people in Haiti.

I wanted to pass this information to you. Many of you have given financially so I want to keep you updated on our progress at this point

This is our present status in this Haiti disaster project is:

We have medical and food supplies in our warehouses in Annapolis, Maryland.

We have about 100 55/60-gallon drums full of oats, wheat, rice, sugar, salt, flour, etc. The contents are preserved to last for 6 months to a year. We have access to much more. We have Mechanical Hospital beds, various other medical equipment and medical supplies.

For the next few weeks we will still be processing these and other items for Haiti.

We will need volunteers in the Annapolis, Maryland area to help with the packaging and loading of these relief items.

We have a ship in port in Lake Charles, Louisiana who will transport these supplies to Haiti for us free of charge.

The first ship leaves in a week and a half. Others will follow. We must pack and transport these items to Lake Charles ASAP.

I know there are a lot of people on the ground helping in Haiti right now. This will soon wane. We are preparing for the long haul. Our people will be needing help for a long time.

They are having logistical problems in Haiti now. This should not affect us. Our ship will not be under any time restraints. They will port and use the ship as a base of operation. Our supplies will reach our people. Volunteers can actually be there to work from the ship and stay on board for sleeping and feeding.

International Relief has worked with these people in Africa, in the past. They are great Christian volunteers and a joy to work with.

I am in Georgia today picking up some more supplies for the warehouse in Maryland. I should be on my way back there late today or tomorrow. We will start processing Monday full force. If you can assist please let me know.

I am attaching a list of items that will be needed for this ship to Haiti. If you or anyone you may know can help in providing any of these things please email me johnnywgarrison@hotmail.com or text me. If you call it may get lost in the business of things.

Do all you can…there are still many good kind hearted people left in the USA. Please do your best to help us with this.

Until later…God bless!
