Honduras – January 10, 2009. Honduras is nestled in between three countries; Guatemala, El Salvador, and Nicaragua. This country has been torn by many different wars that have left its people impoverished. Honduras is the second poorest country in the American continent, coming just behind Haiti.
With a population of about 7.5 million people it is in need of the Gospel. Less then half of a percent are Apostolic, with most of the population being Roman Catholic. These people are in spiritual bondage and need the delivering power of the Holy Ghost! With a burden in their hearts, Marc and Lori Schreckhise moved to Siguetepeque Honduras to start a church in October of 2009. Since that time, God has been moving in a mighty way. Within a three months span, three people have received the Holy Ghost and have been baptized in the lovely name of Jesus. There has been record attendance in their small church, which they hold in their front room. The doors have opened up to start new churches in two other cities in Honduras, these being Comayagua and Tegucigalpa. Comayagua is a city of 75,000 people and Tegucigalpa has a population of two million people. God is moving in a mighty way! With the coming of the Lord soon, there is an urgency to win souls for Jesus Christ. “The night cometh when not man can work.” Please pray for the Schreckhise Family as they endeavor to do a work for the Lord. The following is an update from Missionary Marc Schreckhise:
Last Wednesday night a young girl received the Holy Ghost in a service in Siguatepeque, Honduras. Also, recently a woman, traveling some 30 miles to Siguatepeque from a neighboring city, received the Holy Ghost and was baptized in Jesus name. There is currently no Jesus name church in her city.
The Lord promised that the “latter rain would be greater than the former rain” and I am sure that God was looking ahead in time and seeing a little nation called Honduras when he anointed the man of God to pen these words. New souls have been added to the church by Biblical repentance, water baptism in the Name of Jesus, and the infilling of the Holy Ghost as evident in the book of Acts. As a Missionary, there is no greater sight than to see a soul who has never heard the truth, come and drink of the Living Water. With home Bible Studies being taught weekly, we are expecting to see great things in this New Year. God has ask us to do our part, and given us the promise to do His part. Jesus has said that He would always be with us, no matter the trial, no matter the circumstance, no matter the impossibilities. We serve a God who sees no trial, to whom circumstances have no sway, and who knows no impossibilities.
There is a great need for a Church Building, since we are holding services in the front room of our home. Please help us pray that God will open up the door, with the funds, to purchase a building here in Siguatepeque. We are in desperate need of a place that can seat more than the 20 people. This is a great problem to have, and we know that God is the great problem solver!
