lousianna-senateBaton Rouge - April 1, 2010.  The Rev. Mark Foster of The Pentecostals of the Twin Cities in West Monroe delivered the opening prayer in the Louisiana Senate to begin the legislative session here today.

Foster was joined by his wife Paulla and Ouachita Parish “prayer partners” retired dentist Dr. Mike Walker of Life Catalysts, Bob Beyer of The Cross radio stations, Rece Tucker of New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Calhoun, Gerald Brinkley of The Father’s House in West Monroe and Marvin Steffin of World Bible Trust publishing.

Foster preceded the prayer on a light note, telling senators, “I’m not a candidate for lieutenant governor.”

Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu is vacating his position after winning the New Orleans mayoral race.

State Sen. Bob Kostelka, R-Monroe, arranged for Foster to deliver the opening prayer.

“I’ve been trying to get him here for four years,” Kostelka said.

Foster, who said he was honored to open the session, asked that the senators “be given the wisdom of Solomon in making their decisions and the valor of David to carry them out.”
