j0438521As Christian parents, we all want our children to grow and mature into adults that love God and have an intimate relationship with Him.  We want our children to have a greater experience and understanding of who God really is; a greater experience than making a few crafts in their Sunday School class and putting a few coins in the collection plate.  We want them to know God in a way that requires making more vulnerable their inner self all the while surrendering their will and letting go of whatever holds them back from what He thinks is best for their life –what  is keeping them from wanting God’s ways first.

We want our children to understand the deep riches of His love –those displayed through His many blessings and those because of the beautiful portrayal of grace He has lavished upon them.  We want our children to get past viewing God as some kind of vending machine and really come to understand that God has so much more for them than putting in a few requests in the right slot and pressing the correct button and out pops something they desire.

We want our children to know that good healthy relationships take time and effort and it will be no different in their relationship with God.  We want them to know that it’s their choice and not ours to make, even though we’d rather die than see them make the wrong choice.

We want our children to know that they can pursue a closer relationship with God or have a superficial one, but please remember, great friendships are not made in a day…they take years to grow and mature.  We want our children to know that having a relationship with God is a way of life.  It’s something we do every day of the year…little by little, day by day, one step at a time…for a lifetime… we want them to simply make room for Him in their hectic schedules and let them know that it will be worth it all.

With All My Love,

MOM
