gmangunAlexandria – June 1, 2010. I would like to extend a very special thank you to the POA church family and to all of our friends from around the nation and the world who have upheld us in prayer following the recent stroke of my father and back injury of my mother. I  returned to Alexandria late last night and, although I regret the fact I had to leave my family behind, I am thankful to be with my parents.

As you know, my father’s stroke greatly affected his left side.  He has suffered paralysis on that side and is going to require extensive therapy to see how much mobility can be regained.  Although some feeling has returned in his left leg, it does not appear that enough progress has been made to facilitate motion.

At this time, we are requesting prayer regarding his ability to swallow.  Presently, he cannot do so, and we are in the process of deciding whether a feeding tube must be placed in his stomach in order to give him nourishment.  We will keep you updated on the status of this decision as soon as we can.   We also need you to pray against pneumonia.

Again, we cannot thank you enough for your messages of love and support.  We thank you for your kindness in honoring our continued request to not call nor visit the hospital.  We feel your love and know you understand this decision.   The messages you are sending via the Facebook page as well as emails are providing strength and encouragement for us.

Above all, we thank you for prayer.

Pastor Anthony Mangun
