Missionary Nathanael Lee Young, Jr. Passes Away

leeyoungAlexandria- June 18th 2010. Lee Young was baptized in Jesus’ name in 1979 in Tonga where his parents, Nathanael and Joan Young, served as missionaries. He stated, “Missions has been part of my family for a long time. When I became an adult, I felt a burden to be involved in missionary work.” Consequently, after getting a degree in theology from Indiana Bible College, he went as an associate in missions to New Zealand. There he taught in the Bible school and ministered in different churches. Lee Young received his appointment as a UPCI missionary to New Zealand in September 2000. After raising his Partners In Missions budget, Young returned to New Zealand. He was the associate pastor of the church in Hamilton, taught in the Bible school, had a monthly radio program, and ministered in various churches.

Funeral services for Rev. Nathanael Lee Young, Jr., will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 19, 2010 in the Tabernacle of Louisiana District Pentecostal Campground, Tioga, with Reverends Bruce Howell and Kevin Cox officiating. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Ball, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville.

Rev. Young, 38 of Montgomery, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at Christus St. Franc es Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria. He received a Bachelor of Theology Degree from Indiana Bible College in 1995, where he felt the call to the ministry, he served six months in Norway. He was then appointed as a missionary to Hamilton, New Zealand, where he served seven years.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, William Curtis and Linnie Francis Young; grandfather, Gordon Christophersen.

He is survived by his parents, Reverend Nathanael and Joan Young; grandmother, Josephine Christophersen of Perth-Andover, NB, Canada; two sisters, Tamala G. Young Agersten (Gunnar) of Montgomery, Trina D.L. Young of Montgomery; four aunts, Dorothy Brooks of Lake Charles, Martha Harper of Tioga, Katie McCool of Knoxville, Tennessee and Mae Christophersen of Perth-Andover, NB, Cananda; five uncles, Rev. Simeon Young of Saint Charles, Missouri, Reverend Curtis Young of Elk Grove, California, Rev. Frank Young of Burnet, Texas, Fred Christophersen of Perth-Andover, NB, Canada and Andrew Christophersen of Brockville, Ontario, Canada; one nephew, Lee Andre’ Agersten of Montgomery.

Friends may call at Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, on Friday, June 18, 2010 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and Saturday, June 19, 2010 in the Tabernacle of Louisiana District Pentecostal Campground, Tioga, from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m.

Pallbearers will be Gunnar Agersten, Jonathan Young, David Young, Billy Briggs, Simeon Young, Jr. and Lemuel Young. Honorary pallbearers will be Andrew Christo-phersen and Calvin Hudson.
