I write of backsliding to extend hope to the wayward, and finally, I write of backsliding to tell the story of my second-born son, Michael, who for more than 25 years trudged the prodigal’s rough and rocky course but who because of God’s grace and mercy has regained his rightful place as a son of God . . .To every godly parent who through the black night whispers the name of a wandering child, I bring you hope.” – Shirley Buxton

Backsliding – The Bitter Bite of Beelzebub, is a powerful book worth every penny and then some. The words on the pages bring a breath of hope and life to every soul, saved or lost. It will impact whoever reads it in such a positive way, and will bring new insight and a burden for those who are estranged from their First Love.

“The Leaving,” “Prevention,” and “The Return” are all addressed in a thorough manner, backed up by Scripture. Sis Buxton delves into the deepest issues that afflict someone cold in their spirit, and also helps comprehend how a soul can leave our Loving Savior. She addresses how a church and an individual can more effectively understand the issue of backsliding and prevent it from happening not only personally, but to those you know and love. Finally, she gives clarity and direction on how to best help those who want to return to the body of Christ and to His loving arms but do not know how or have the courage to.

The story of her son, Michael, is a powerful testimony that will bring you hope if you are praying for a lost friend or loved-one. Although the situation may seem bleak at times, Backsliding is a book which will fill you with new faith and fresh hope to keep trusting God and loving those who need Him so desperately.

What can be more important than our salvation? This book is a must-have for not only yourself but those you love. Order now to receive your copies and give gifts of love this holiday season!

More about Sis Shirley Buxton:

Shirley Buxton is a daughter of God, who since childhood, has been taught His ways. Her father was a minister, as is her husband, Jerry, two of their sons, Stephen and Andrew, and their grandson, Joel. God and His church are the center of her life.

Bro & Sis Buxton have four children, all married now, twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The Buxtons live in Crestline, CA. a small town that sets 5000 feet high in the San Bernardino Mountains. Although they maintain their Crestline home, since February of 2007, they have lived in Lake Havasu City, AZ. where they are pioneering a new church work.

In recent years, Shirley has published three books. The first, A Thousand Pieces, ready to go into its fourth printing, is the story of Jerry’s horrendous accident in 1994 when he was struck by a drunk driver. He was in the hospital five months, and his remarkable recovery is attributed both to excellent medical care, and to the miraculous touch of God. Her second book is entitled, Road Tales. In July of 2006, she released her newest book Link to Excellence.

Shirley also is a frequent speaker, both at women’s conferences and other meetings, and with Bro Jerry Buxton, in marriage seminars.

Apostolic News in an interview with the author is able to discuss the continuing authorship and research of Kulwant Singh Boora on the subject of baptism, which has resulted in his latest work on ‘Baptism In The Name of Jesus (Acts 2:38) and The New Testament Pauline Epistles’ due to be released within the following month. This work points out that while the Acts of the Apostles serves as the primary point of reference on baptism in the name of Jesus, the New Testament Pauline epistles equally deserve closer examination. A close look at the established churches provide an equally strong base upon which baptism in the name of Jesus can be confidently propounded as evidence of the early church’s baptismal formula, thereby extending the analysis to a broader field of thought.

What is surprising is that the author provides discussion of non-Pauline epistles also that have rarely been discussed by individuals that theologically speak of baptism in the name of Jesus. One such passage of scripture is James 2:7. To this, the work is cited by a well-known British scholar at the University of Aberdeen in Great Britain, Professor I. Howard Marshall. It is noted that Professor Marshall points out that there is some theological significance or reference to baptism in the name of Jesus in this verse of scripture.

While the passage requires sound exegetical and hermeneutical treatment and would inferentially supply a thoughtful view of its relatedness to the book of Acts, Professor Marshall is mindful of the view that when correctly understood a strong inference is developed that promotes baptism in the name of Jesus as found in James 2:7. The following therefore has been provided by the author within the coming publication:

“And, finally, when James mentions ‘the notable name of him to whom you belong’ (Jas 2:7), this is surely a reference to baptism in the name of Jesus . . . .”

Other passages of scripture, such as 1 Peter, are also noted by scholar(s) to be worthy of discussion when speaking on the subject of baptism in the name of Jesus as noted by Boora’s recent work.

Acts of the Apostles then, serves as the primary basis for the subject of baptism in the name of Jesus, but other New Testament passages that are often not discussed are also worth revisiting. Only by a closer and detailed look as such passages are apostolic oneness individuals able to development much broader viewpoints on the subject of water baptism that are housed in the established New Testament churches and other rarely discussed passages of New Testament scripture. Apostolic News looks forward to the forthcoming publication and its contribution.

“This was his big break. One step away from signing a lucrative recording contract, Rick Mayo was on the doorstep of his lifelong dream. Years of traveling and performing were paying off. He’d been in many gigs and played in bands before thousands, but this time would be different. This deal would usher him into a whole new level of national attention and insure his assent into the heights of rock and roll stardom. Rick was about to sign on to a star prime time advertising spot that was destined to air on major television networks.
Years of alcohol and drugs had hardened Rick and set him on a course of self destruction that couldn’t be deterred by his family’s intervention, teachers at school, or even military authority. Running from responsibility, the only thing he wanted now was to make it – and make it big in the world of music and entertainment. Now was his time. But something just wasn’t right. What should have been a feeling of expectation and exhilaration was replaced with a sense of despair and emptiness. There was a haunting emptiness racking his mind. A voice out of nowhere was asking him questions he couldn’t answer. This unexplainable voice was piercing through and challenging everything he had been striving to attain.
Finally, one night as he ran on to the stage before another raging, drug- filled crowd, and as he readied himself to blaze into another opening guitar riff, this voice broke into Rick’s world. What was it saying? Where was this voice coming from, and what did it want? Was this the voice of God? And if so, was there any hope of shaking Rick Mayo from his world of drugs, alcohol, and despair? Could God change a seemingly unchangeable life?”

You have to read Lost & Found by Brian Hubbell, to find out! This is an astounding biography that shows the awesome power of God and the truly amazing transformation that takes place in the life of a rock star. This is a fascinating must-read testimony of God’s mercy and grace that will have you reading nonstop through it’s entirety.

Read this book for yourself, gift it to a friend or family member, use as a witness tool, or strengthen and encourage a young church musician to continue on in the right path. You may purchase Lost & Found at www.Spokanecornerstonechurch.org and later this month at the WPF Bookstore.

(Forward by Bishop Nathaniel J. Wilson, and written by Author Brian Hubbell)

The latest single produced by Preston Tylor Scott could be described in a few words: “Hermoso!” “Magnífico” and “Asombroso!” For all of us gringos that means Scott’s debut single, “At First Sight,” is quite amazing indeed and definitely worth the mere .99 cents at iTunes!

Reminiscent of smooth Latin Jazz, this modern hit “At First Sight” begins with intricate syncopation that immediately captures the listener’s attention and then transports them off to somewhere in South America…this talented young man is more than simply an amazing guitarist, however.

Preston is one of the main musicians for The Rock Church, in Elk Grove, CA, his home town. Preston is 19 years old, and has been playing guitar for 4 years. He has totally devoted his talent to the Lord and it’s evident that he is going places musically.

He comes by his talent naturally as well, as it runs in his family and his grandfather, knows as “Dude” Newton, played guitar with well-known rockabilly musicians in the 1960’s before coming to the Lord.

Preston Scott says, “When I first started out playing guitar, I always wanted to play guitar ever since I was really little and always watched my grandpa. He was a huge inspiration just as much as an influence to me in music. Then I broke out and began my own style of playing and grew interested in many different genres of music which lead me into a heavy Latin/pop/world influence, although my style is shaped by rock, jazz, fusion, including Latin/pop/world.”

When asked what inspires him, he answered “Inspiration for me comes in all shapes, sizes, and forms. I can be ‘affected’ or ‘subjected’ to inspiration either by emotion, light, color, experience…. I am inspired in many different ways.

The Title “At First Sight” means a whole lot to me in the sense of just expressing what I was feeling when the first melody came out. I had just an emotion working on me at the time, of letting go of myself and watching God take control in whatever way it may be and just imagining what that first sight would be, which I felt like the chorus melody portrayed the sense of that.”

After the major success of Preston’s first single, he was asked if he will be recording more music: “Yes I plan on releasing several albums actually, including hymns, worship music, and various other genres of music. As of now I am focusing on the “Latin/World” style I am currently working on producing a whole album of that style of music.”

Have you ever walked by a beautiful rose and thought, “If only I had my camera!” or seen the most beautiful sunset that you tried in vain to paint in oils? Or perhaps there was a person who’s portrait you endeavored to pencil?

One of the talents of John & Robin Redman of Sacramento, CA is capturing these beautiful works of art that God creates! Their artistic eye produces amazing photography, which is becoming a coveted medium by many.

John and Robin write:

The name of our business is The Master’s Light Photography. The Master’s Light was not thought of on a whim. It was given to us by GOD through tremendous thought and prayer. Every photo is taken with the inspiration of how everything that the LORD has created is GREAT. The focus is on understanding the uniqueness of the Master’s hand and the light of HIS goodness as seen through the lens of our cameras. Photos are our memories of years and moments gone by which warm our hearts and create a fondness of remembrances. It is amazing to look at a picture of a dew laden vine of grapes and evoke how it represents the TRUE VINE… the HOLY GHOST… JESUS and how we are connected on the vine. This is what The Master’s Light gives back to those they serve. It is our sincere desire to glorify our Lord in everything we say and do as GOD commands.

As JESUS is the Light of the world, it is His light that allows us, as his followers to grasp his beauty. The Master’s Light captures the beauty of God in a tangible form. On our blog, the primary scripture given is Psalm 27:8, “When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek.” We pray steadfastly as we know this is a blessing and not just a skill that GOD has provided. It is not enough to simply take photographs; our prayer to GOD is to show us the photographs that HE desires us to take. This business is dedicated to GOD and how we can help build HIS Kingdom.

As majestic as this world is we want it to be understood that for us, the owners of “The Master’s Light, HE is our MAJESTY and KING. “To GOD be all the GLORY”!!!

The Master’s Light specializes in portraits of scripture landscape, engagements, maternity and newborn, high school senior, reunions, church events, family portraiture, etc.

When somebody handed Jeremiah Sibley a copy of a Harry Connick Jr.’s “20” album at twelve years of age, the desire to be able to play such swinging, solo piano immediately became a life passion. Certainly he could not foresee just how much a part of his life, hearing that one good jazz recording, would change. After spending much of his teenage years taking lessons, practicing, and attempting to play in church, he entered college with two goals: to be able to play well enough to play in church and to finally begin to work toward playing jazz piano competently. When he graduated from Jackson College of Ministry armed with a solid musical instruction from Sis. Dedie Cooley, he had established the foundation to begin to accomplish those goals.

What followed was a whirlwind of life: over four years as the music minister of FUPC of San Antonio and since April of 2001 he has served as both the pastor and music minister of Medina Valley Christian Worship of Castroville, Texas. Intermingled within those years are numerous sessions of instruction in music conferences and countless hours both in practicing and learning jazz piano and in teaching private lessons. There are few things that Jeremiah enjoys more in life than seeing someone learn something that they had beforehand thought impossible or overly difficult.

While there is only one Harry Connick Jr and he is inimitable, Jeremiah has successfully absorbed many of Connick’s techniques and chord voicings into his playing. Other jazz greats such as Gene Harris and Thelonius Monk can be heard in his playing style also. Years of playing and practicing music for a church setting has enabled Jeremiah to adapt those jazz sounds and ideas into practical playing situations as well as to pull from black gospel, southern gospel, and the contemporary Gospel worlds.

Now the teaching system that Jeremiah has developed is available in an online video lesson format! The system is a mixture of how Jeremiah was taught intermingled with innovations that he created to try to be more effective in developing his students to play competently in church. It works – as evident by the many former students that now play every week in churches around the country. As Jeremiah realized that God had gifted him with the ability to teach others what he had learned, a desire was born to take what he was doing weekly in private lessons and make it available on a larger scale. Bsharptricks.com is the fruition of those dreams.

Bsharptricks.com provides web-based piano instruction at a very affordable monthly fee and is essentially two types of lessons at one place. The Series at BsharptTricks are sequential lessons that take a beginner from knowing nothing into more advanced territory step by step and as quickly as possible. The Advanced Studies of the site includes genre or chord studies for the more advanced player. Ideally, someone new to playing piano could be able to go through the first course and then move on to the more advanced stuff, whereas a more advanced player could sample the areas of the basics that they feel that they need a refresher or some help, and then choose the more advanced stuff as they desire. For example, they might go to a series of lessons on Pentecostal Style Playing or on how to use altered chords in practical playing situations. No matter the skill level, BSharpTricks provides complete access to all of the lessons for just a low, monthly fee. You can take lessons when you have the time to do them and all from the comfort of your home. And when you are ready for more advanced material, it will be waiting for you.

A premiere membership at BSharpTricks is only $20 a month and gets you access to all lessons and the lessons can be repeated and viewed at your own pace and repeatedly as you choose. Still not sure if this is for you? A free, basic membership gets you access to a few free lessons so that you can try it out with no commitment! New lessons are added throughout the year and you never know what will be waiting for you at the site.

It’s time for you realize your dream of becoming a better piano player and playing Pentecostal Style music in church. BSharpTricks is source you need to make that happen!

Ivy Mallory is not just any ordinary nine-year old. She’s a singer who can hold her own! She has not only won a variety of county singing competitions, but won 1st place in her hometown Portland, in the Oregon State Fair talent competition, which features the winners from all other Oregon county contests.

A few weeks ago the Oregon State Fair contracted her to sing her own set of songs on the Main Stage. It was her first real, paid contractual performance (not counting singing on tour with her family). She did an incredible job, bringing the audience to their feet during her rendition of “We Shall Behold Him”.

Among these feats, she also sang live with her family on the largest Christian radio station in Portland, 104.1 The Fish, and has been singing at camp meetings, conventions, conferences, and churches throughout the West.

Recently, she recorded her own project titled “I’m His Creation,” which is an album filled with imaginative and original material that children and adults will enjoy!

If you haven’t seen or heard her yet for yourself, you must check out www.ivymallory.com where you can purchase her new album and be blessed with the anointed pure and clear tones of a child clearly blessed with talent and giving those talents back to the Lord.

Are you a vocal teacher or a parent wanting to help your child learn to sing? (All of the original soundtracks with and without vocals are also available on ivymallory.com) Are you a Sunday School teacher who wants to impart lessons using a creative medium that will leave a definite positive impact?

Ivy’s parent’s say “We’ve heard from many teachers and children’s pastors. They tell us that they find Ivy’s CD to be a super tool for teaching great concepts this album illustrates. We invite you to go to her website, ivymallory.com, and see and hear for yourself what God is doing in her life. Tell friends, neighbors, and loved ones. Everyone agrees that this is truly one of the best CDs by a child and targeted toward children they have ever heard. But don’t take our word for it. Go to ivymallory.com and experience it for yourself.”

Go Ivy! APN is excited to see where God will lead you in your singing ministry in the years to come!
